Darlene Johnson
Darlene Fraser Johnson (born November 6, 1935 in Australia , † July 24, 2009 in London , England ) was an Australian actress .
Life
Johnson began her acting career in the late 1950s at the theater as Ingenue in a production of Jean Anouilh's Léocadia alongside Margaret Rutherford . She then joined the newly formed Elizabethan Theater Trust Company, where she played numerous classical roles. In the 1960s she appeared in musicals and revues and was featured on the Australian children's program Play School on ABC . In the early 1970s Johnson moved to the United Kingdom , where she was on the theater stages in London's West End, among other places . For the Royal Shakespeare Company she worked as Charlotta Iwanowna in Der Kirschgarten , as Rebecca Nurse in witch hunt and as Marlene Dietrich in Piaf . In addition, she appeared at the Theater Royal Stratford East as an English pantomime and in variety shows .
Occasionally Johnson was seen on British television, including two guest appearances in the crime series Task Force Police . In Richard O'Brien's Shock Treatment , she had one of her rare feature films. In the musical film she sang three tracks, Shock Treatment , Look What I Did to My ID and Denton, USA
Johnson left behind a daughter from a marriage that had been divorced in 1968.
