Darmstadt Guitar Days
The Darmstädter Gitarrentage is a festival for acoustic guitar music in Darmstadt . They were founded in 1998 and have been held annually in December since then - with the exception of 2001 and 2005.
history
The Darmstädter Musiktage was founded by the concert guitarist Tilman Hoppstock and initially by the Thomasgemeinde Darmstadt e. V. and Prim Musikverlag . The Darmstädter Gitarrentage e. V. the organizer. The festival consists of several concerts as well as master classes by international guitarists. During the 1st Darmstadt Guitar Days 1998, three concerts with the soloists Thomas Müller-Pering , Piera Dadomo and Giulio Tampalini as well as the duo of Stefan Hladek and Rudi Weinacker were held. From 2002 the festival was expanded to include a matinée . During the 5th Darmstadt Guitar Days in 2003 there was a guitar exhibition, and in 2014 a specialist lecture was added. For the 20th anniversary in 2017, the 18th Darmstadt Guitar Days included 5 concerts, a guitar exhibition, a specialist lecture and four master classes.
Venues
The guitar days were initially held in the Martinskirche . Since 1999 concerts have been held in the Thomaskirche . The opening concert has been taking place in the Justus Liebig House since 2003 . The last permanent venue was the Academy of Music in 2004 .
