Production and demonstration

The Secret of Murk was shot as a television film in Uerzlikon in 2008 under the direction of Sabine Boss for the Zurich production company C-FILMS and Swiss television . Peter Reichenbach was the producer.

The film was shown at the Solothurn Film Festival in January 2008 and, due to its success, also in Swiss cinemas from August. It was released on DVD in December and was broadcast on Swiss television.

reception

The film received CHF 10,000 from the Zurich Film Prize and was awarded the Audience Prize of the Solothurn Film Festival. The Zurich jury stated that the film captivates with well-managed actors and precise timing and that it did justice to its claim of light entertainment in a convincing and relaxed manner. Film critic Thomas Hunziker criticized, among other things, the script, which "lets the plot ripple a little too arbitrarily from one predictable conflict to the next inevitable argument without really developing momentum" . Sonja Wenger wrote for the Swiss film yearbook Cinema that the film was beneficial proof that Swiss humor could do well without embarrassing jokes and convulsive self-mortification.
