The girl with the narrow hips is a German feature film made in Yugoslavia in 1960 with Hannelore Elsner in the title role and Claus Wilcke and Barbara Valentin in other leading roles.

action

The story begins on a yacht with which the owner, a wealthy businessman, sails along the Greek coast. Also on board are bored luxury yuppies from his circle of friends who have fun with lots of alcohol and well-built girls. The millionaire's son, Robert, type “rebel without a cause” and “young, angry savage”, is only disgusted by the hollow-lying behavior of the father and his guests. When Robert learns that his father is having a relationship with his girlfriend, the measure is full. There is a heated argument with the now ex-girlfriend, and Robert, now quite drunk, grabs the yacht dinghy and drives it to the coast. His landing site is a small, remote island on which only 380 people live, isolated from all the achievements of civilization. A very archaic place with archaic rites, as he soon discovered.

As soon as he arrived, Robert had to watch a young man throw himself off the cliff to his death. Robert rushes to the site and is able to rescue the supposed suicide. He dragged the dead man to the nearest village and was promptly suspected of being his murderer, especially since, given his alcohol level, he couldn't remember anything concrete and had blood on his hands. On the first night on the island, he meets the adorable Yusha, a girl, still a teenager, with an obviously big secret. It didn't take long before Robert fell in love with the enigmatic islander. Soon he must learn that the girl should be under a curse; yes, it is even rumored among the superstitious villagers that she is a witch. Because where Yusha is, death also lurks in the wake. Whoever falls in love with the girl with the slim hips is dead a little later. The dead man found by Robert was already the third man who followed her as an admirer and had to lose his life for it. Yusha reciprocates Robert's feelings and the young couple decide to flee. The real killer of men, however, continues to roam free, and he will not allow anyone to stand in his way and Yusha ...

Reviews

“That was not done inappropriately, but unfortunately the critical was too poorly founded and the sultry too humid to be taken seriously. Two likeable and talented young actors were used here because of superficial charms. "

- Hamburger Abendblatt dated November 11, 1961

In the lexicon of the international film it says: "On board a yacht, witch-believing rurality and dolce vita serve as a backdrop for the bumbling game with sensuality and brutality."
