Dave Bitelli

Dave Bitelli (* around 1960) is a British jazz musician ( baritone , alto and tenor saxophone , clarinets ).

Bitelli studied at the Leeds College of Music. Since the early 1980s he has appeared as a sideman of Joe Jackson , Dana Gillespie and as a soloist at Working Week , later he was part of the Loose Tubes and Mike Westbrook's band . He directed his own bands like Onward Internationals and played with Airto Moreira , Dom Um Romao , Dudu Pukwana , Najma Akhtar , Shlomo Carlebach , Jimmy Witherspoon , Terry Callier , Robert Cray , Kenny Wheeler , Gunther Schuller , Terry Riley and the Yiddish Twist Orchestra . He can also be heard on albums from 3Mustaphas3 , Tarika , Elaine Paige , Joan Armatrading , The Alarm , Elton John , REM and Richard Thompson . He also worked as an arranger for Elton John. He also appeared in Jasmin Dizdar's film Beautiful People (1999) .

Bitelli also taught at the University of Southampton , Middlesex University , Trinity College of Music and the University of Westminster .
