David & Götz (long form: David & Götz - Die Showpianisten ) are a German piano duo that has been performing together since 2009, consisting of the two musicians David Harrington and Götz Östlind.

Appearances

David & Götz play a wide variety of styles, from classical music to pop and rock music to swing and boogie-woogie . All arrangements are self-written. Part of the concept is the often comedic performance of piano pieces on two grand pianos . The styles often alternate. Components of the program are moderations, vocal performances by both artists - Harrington is a trained tenor - and performed scenes. Harrington usually plays in black clothes on the white grand piano, Östlind in white on the black grand piano. Harrington plays the often somewhat coarser roles, while Östlind plays the “gentleman”.

The duo plays around 70 concerts a year.

The musicians

Both musicians started playing the piano at the age of five. David Harrington (* 1973) has a German mother and an Irish father. He grew up in Halstenbek . After graduating from high school in Schenefeld , he studied theater studies , sociology and journalism at the Free University of Berlin and earned a Magister Artium in musical theater . He studied piano with Frank Guzinski in Hamburg and singing with Günter Giese in Berlin and was also trained as a conductor . He conducted musicals in Hamburg for around ten years , including at the Neue Flora Theater . Since 2016 he has also given solo concerts under the title Der Barpianist .

Götz Östlind (* 1977 in Winsen (Luhe) ) learned piano with Lev Natochenny, among others . After graduating from high school, he studied applied cultural sciences and business administration at the University of Lüneburg and received his doctorate in 2005 on counterpoint in film music . In 2006 he was named " Betting King" by naming four simultaneously played tones on the television show Wetten, dass ..? In addition to his work at David & Götz, he composes piano pieces and also performs solo with these works.

In 1999 the two musicians met. In 2009 they began their concert activities as "show pianists". In 2013 they played and sang the German national anthem before the start of the Formula 1 race at the Nürburgring . In 2015, David & Götz performed in front of ISAF troops at the Afghan Camp Marmal at the invitation of the Bundeswehr . They gave other concerts in Japan, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates, among others . In 2016 they played in front of 4500 people in the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg. In December 2017 the duo gave a concert with the orchestra of the United Bühnen Wien in Vienna .

The duo teaches and supports pianists in childhood.
