David Jones (born August 10, 1984 in Guelph , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the Colorado Avalanche , Calgary Flames and Minnesota Wild in the National Hockey League during his playing career .
Career
David Jones was selected during the 2003 NHL Entry Draft in the ninth round as a total of 288th player by the Colorado Avalanche . First, however, he played one season with the Port Coquitlam Buckeroos in the Pacific Junior Hockey League , three years for the Coquitlam Express in the British Columbia Hockey League and three more seasons for the ice hockey team of Dartmouth College . The 2007/08 season began Jones with the farm team of the Avalanche, the Lake Erie Monsters from the American Hockey League , for which he made his professional ice hockey debut. On December 20, 2007 he was appointed for the first time by Colorado in their team from the National Hockey League .
The winger scored his first goal in the NHL on March 11, 2008 during a 5-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers .
The Canadian winger was transferred to the Calgary Flames on June 27, 2013 in an exchange of the Colorado Avalanche along with teammate Shane O'Brien . The avalanche received in return attacker Alex Tanguay and the Canadian defender Cory Sarich .
In February 2016, Jones was given to the Minnesota Wild , with Calgary receiving Niklas Bäckström in return and a six- round vote for the 2016 NHL Entry Draft . In Minnesota, Jones ended the season, but received no further contract and then ended his active career.
