Career

Mach, who starts for TSV Buchenberg , completed his first international competitions as part of the Nordic Ski Games at the OPA 2015 in Seefeld . In the following years Mach competed regularly in the Alpencup , where he achieved his best overall ranking in 2017/18 with thirteenth place.

At the end of January 2018, Mach made his Continental Cup debut in Rena , where he reached the points for the first time on the second day of the competition. In the summer of 2018, he started in the Grand Prix in Oberstdorf , but twice just missed a place in the top 30. In the 2018/19 season, Mach consistently scored Continental Cup points and was nominated for the Junior World Championships in Lahti, Finland . While he finished 15 and 32 in the individual, he won the gold medal in the team together with Luis Lehnert , Simon Hüttel and Julian Schmid . A few days later Mach made his debut in the World Cup . At the Gundersen competition on February 3, he reached 27th place and thus won his first World Cup points. After three more points in Schonach , he finished the World Cup season in 62nd place in the overall standings.

At the German Championships in 2019 in Klingenthal and Johanngeorgenstadt , Mach became German Junior Champion. In the winter of 2019/20 he was used sporadically in the World Cup , but he could not win any points. In the Continental Cup , too , he missed out on the lead and achieved his best result in eleventh place in Klingenthal. At the 2020 Junior World Championships in Oberwiesenthal , Mach finished 20th in the Gundersen singles before winning the silver medal at the first mixed team competition with Christian Frank , Maria Gerboth and Jenny Nowak . At the end of the season Mach suffered a stress fracture on his foot.

In the summer of 2020, Mach was recognized by the Bundesstützpunkt Oberstdorf and Sparkasse Allgäu as the “Elite Student of Sports 2019”, as he was not only able to draw attention to himself in terms of sport with his debut in the World Cup, but also completed his Abitur with an average grade of 1.0.
