David Meckler (born July 9, 1987 in Highland Park , Illinois ) is an American ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with EHC Red Bull Munich from the German ice hockey league . He was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2006 in the 5th round in a total of 134th place by the Los Angeles Kings .

Career

Meckler was born in Highland Park , Illinois. He attended Waterloo High School and Yale University .

On March 5, 2006, Meckler scored the game-winning goal in the second longest game in NCAA hockey history. Yale University then defeated Union College 3-2 in the first playoff round of the ECAC Hockey League after 81 minutes and 35 seconds in overtime. David Meckler scored the game-winning goal for Yale University with a shorthander.

After his junior career with the London Knights from the Ontario Hockey League , Meckler signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings for the 2007-08 season. Here he played for the Kings' farm team in the American Hockey League , the Manchester Monarchs . After three years with the Monarchs, Meckler signed another one-year contract with the Kings on July 16, 2011

After six seasons for the Manchester Monarchs and 414 games in the AHL without a single NHL game, he left the Kings as a free agent and signed a contract with EC Red Bull Salzburg on September 3, 2013 .

After only one year in Austria, Meckler left Salzburg for Munich to join EHC Red Bull Munich . He signed his contract there on November 17, 2014. For health reasons, his current contract with EHC Red Bull was terminated in June.
