(13087) Chastellux is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 30 July 1992 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered. The first sightings of the asteroid had already been made in February and March 1990 under the provisional designation 1990 DS4 at the La Silla Observatory.

The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids named after (158) Koronis.

(13087) Chastellux was named on January 25, 2001 after the French military and writer François-Jean de Chastellux (1734–1788), who from 1775 belonged to the Académie française .
