David Morgenstern (born March 7, 1814 in Büchenbach near Erlangen ; died November 2, 1882 in Fürth ) was a member of the Bavarian state parliament and a tin foil manufacturer .

He attended high school in Erlangen, studied at the University of Würzburg Law and was legal intern at his political "foster father" Nicholas Titus . During his studies in 1834 he became a member of the old Erlanger fraternity Germania .

David Morgenstern was in the elections in December 1848 as the first Jewish member of parliament in Bavaria for the constituency of Erlangen-Fürth in the Second Chamber of the Bavarian Landtag elected. He was sworn in on February 4, 1849.

On April 30, 1858, for 9,000 guilders , he acquired half the share in a tin foil factory that his brother Josef Peifer Morgenstern had founded in Forchheim in 1854 . After three years he became the sole owner, the factory remained in family ownership until it was "Aryanized" in 1938 . Today, as 4-P, it is part of the Finnish Huhtamaki group.
