When he found out about Jane Wyman's poor health while filming, which meant she had to suspend some episodes of the series, he went to her bedside with Lamas and Sullivan, who were friends of her through the filming. His engagement in this series lasted from 1982 to 1990 and ended with the discontinuation of the series. With Jane Wyman he remained closely connected until her death on September 10, 2007.
