David Selby

David Lynn Selby (born February 5, 1941 in Morgantown , West Virginia ) is an American actor .

Life and accomplishments

Selby is the son of Clyde Ira Selby and Sarah E. McIntyre Selby and grew up in his youth in Morgantown, West Virginia. Selby wanted to be an actor at an early age, so he studied drama at West Virginia University in his hometown , where he earned his bachelor's and master's degree and later even did his doctorate.

From 1968 to 1971 he played Quentin Collins in the hit series Dark Shadows on the US television channel ABC . Later, the movie The Castle of Lost Souls (Night of Dark Shadows) went on screen with him in the lead role.

From 1981 to 1982 he played in the final season of the NBC series Flamingo Road to Michael Tyronne .

His big international breakthrough came in the role of Richard Channing in the series Falcon Crest . Here he is the son of the matriarch of a wine empire Angela Channing , played by Jane Wyman , but both of them only find out at the end of the series that they are mother and son and that they fight each other to the knife. Susan Sullivan and Lorenzo Lamas played at his side in this series. When he found out about Jane Wyman's poor health while filming, which meant she had to suspend some episodes of the series, he went to her bedside with Lamas and Sullivan, who were friends of her through the filming. His engagement in this series lasted from 1982 to 1990 and ended with the discontinuation of the series. With Jane Wyman he remained closely connected until her death on September 10, 2007.

Selby played with various Hollywood stars at his side in a few films, but is also active as a writer.

Private

He has been married to his wife Claudeis Chip since 1963 and has three children, two daughters and a son. Like him, his wife is from West Virginia.
