David Vavruška (born September 14, 1972 ) is a Czech football coach .

Player career

Vavruška, who was born in Opava , played as a youth first for the Prague club SK Modřany and then for Dukla Prague . After a serious illness that became chronic, he had to retire at the age of 18.

Coaching career

In 1992 Vavruška was approached by his friend Jiří Hruška and from then on trained the B-Juniors of SK Vyšehrad. In the following season, the young coach coached the B-youth of AFK Slavoj Podolí, before he coached the A-Juniors of Tempo Prague in 1994/95. He then worked with the A-youths of the FSC Libuš. In 1996 Boris Kočí lured him to Motorlet Prague , where he initially took over the A-Juniors and later became the head coach of the club's junior division.

In the first half of the 2000/01 season he coached a men's team for the first time in his career, but he had little success and was released from his duties. He continued to work as a junior coach at Motorlet. In 2003 he moved to FK Teplice , where he also took on the role of head coach and coordinator of the junior department. From 2007 to 2008 he held this post at Sparta Prague , after which he worked for the 1st FK Příbram for years - with an interlude at Bohemians 1905 .

Vavruška had his first engagement in the men's professional field as an interim trainer alongside František Kopač in 2011. At the end of May he was introduced as the club's official trainer. After the club could not win in twelve consecutive games, the club separated from Vavruška. Just a few days after his release, he took over the Czech second division club SFC Opava . Here, too, he was extremely unsuccessful and after the club only got 18 points from 22 games, he was dismissed. The club then rose to the third division.

The FC Slovan Liberec committed Vavruška in July 2013 and he coached the Under-21 team for nine and a half months. After the professional team had dismissed Jaroslav Šilhavý as coach, he took over the first division team as an interim coach and was under contract until the end of the season. Then he took over the U21 team again. After the dismissal of the coaching duo Jiří Kotrba and Josef Csaplár in March 2015, Vavruška took over the professionals again. He managed to keep the class with the team and also to win the Czech Cup .

For the 2015/16 season Vavruška takes over the team of FK Teplice.
