Deborah Jeane Palfrey

Deborah Jeane Palfrey (born March 18, 1956 in Charleroi , Pennsylvania , † May 1, 2008 in Tarpon Springs , Florida ) was the operator of an escort agency in Washington, DC She was also known as DC Madam .

Palfrey ran an escort service from 1993 to 2006. She was accused of arranging (illegal) prostitution . As part of her indictment, she triggered a major scandal in 2007 with partial publications from her customer list, as it allegedly contains numerous prominent politicians and personalities. Subsequently, further publications were initially prohibited by a court.

Celebrities who became known as customers include David Vitter , a Republican US Senator from Louisiana . Another victim was Randall Tobias , head of the US development agency . Members and employees of the armed forces , NASA , the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund are said to have been listed in the customer database.

According to the authorities, Palfrey died of suicide a few days after a judicial conviction.
