Deer Park is a city in Harris County in the US state of Texas in the United States .

The city is located in the southeast corner of the county, in southeast Texas, in the east about 120 km from Louisiana , in the southeast about 40 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has a total area of ​​26.8 km² without any significant water surface.

history

The place was founded in 1893 as the depot of the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway and in the same year the first post office was established. In 1896 the settlement had 40 residents, a hotel and a general store. In 1946, after the opening of a production plant for trinitrotoluene , better known as TNT , the town began to grow, in 1950 to 736 inhabitants and 4865 people in 1960.

According to the 2000 census, 28,520 people lived here in 9,615 households and 7,941 families. The population density was 1,062.9 inhabitants per km².
