Deer Park is a city in Harris County in the US state of Texas in the United States .
geography
The city is located in the southeast corner of the county, in southeast Texas, in the east about 120 km from Louisiana , in the southeast about 40 km from the Gulf of Mexico and has a total area of 26.8 km² without any significant water surface.
history
The place was founded in 1893 as the depot of the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway and in the same year the first post office was established. In 1896 the settlement had 40 residents, a hotel and a general store. In 1946, after the opening of a production plant for trinitrotoluene , better known as TNT , the town began to grow, in 1950 to 736 inhabitants and 4865 people in 1960.

According to the 2000 census, 28,520 people lived here in 9,615 households and 7,941 families. The population density was 1,062.9 inhabitants per km². The racial the population was composed of 90.01% White, 1.31% African American, 0.41% Native American, 1.13% Asian, 0.13% Pacific Islander, and 5.25% other ethnic groups. About 1.76% were mixed race and 15.22% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 9,615 households 43.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them. 66.8% of these were married couples living together. 11.5% were single mothers and 17.4% were non-families. 14.0% of all households were single households and 4.2% had people living there who were 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.93 and the average family size was 3.23.
29.0% of the population were under 18 years old, 9.4% 18 to 24, 30.3% 25 to 44, 23.9% 45 to 64, and 7.4% who were 65 years of age or older . The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females of all age groups, there were 98.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 and over there were 96.2 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 61,334 , and the median income for a family is $ 66,516. Males had a median income of $ 50,867 versus $ 30,926 for females. The per capita income was $ 24,440. 5.6% of the population and 4.0% of families are below the poverty line. 5.4% of these were children and adolescents under 18 years of age and 4.9% were 65 or older.
