Tendon head

The stretch head in the Harz is about 775  m above sea level. NHN high elevation near Torfhaus in the non-parish Harz region of the Goslar district in Lower Saxony .

Geographical location

The stretch head is located in the Upper Harz in the Harz National Park , to which the Harz Nature Park adjoins directly to the west of the elevation . It rises about 1.1 km west-northwest of Torfhaus , a district of the mountain town of Altenau . To the east are the Lerchenköpfe ( 821  m ) and to the west is the Mittelberg ( 667.1  m ). In the south-west the landscape leads over to Bruchberg (approx.  927  m ). The Oker tributary Kalbe and the Oker tributary Kellwasser, which flows through the Kellwassertal , arise on the northern flank of the Dehnenkopf . The small Kellwasser tributary flows past Nabe to the west . Bundesstraße 4 runs around 500 m northeast of the summit, from which state road  504 ( Steile-Wand-Straße ) branches off in Torfhaus to Altenau.

Mountain height

The stretch head is about 775  m high. A few meters west-northwest of its summit, topographic maps show a measuring point at an altitude of 773.6  m .

Maiden cliff

The Jungfernklippe ( ), which reaches a maximum height of about 660  m, is located about 600 m southwest of the Dehnenkopf summit. The rock formation is included as No. 221 in the system of stamping points of the Harz hiking pin. The stamp box is located a few meters east of the cliff on a gravel forest and hiking trail, which leads slightly downwards to the southeast to the near start of the dam ditch belonging to the Upper Harz water shelf .
