Demetrius Bohdan Hryhorak OSBM also Dmytro Hryhorak or Dimitri Hryhorak (born January 1, 1956 in Ivano-Frankivsk , Ukrainian SSR ) is Ukrainian Greek Catholic Bishop of the Buchach Eparchy in Ukraine.

Life

Bohdan Hryhorak, his baptismal name , is the son of Dmytro and Anna Hryhorak. His family suffered under the rule of the communist government in Ukraine and had their religion in the ground exercise. In pastoral care they were given by the Basilians of St. Josaphat looks after. He attended a general education school in Ivano-Frankivsk from 1963 to 1973 and then moved to a university . From 1991 to 1996 he studied at the Basilian seminary in Ivano-Frankivsk and completed his theology studies at the Catholic University of Lublin (Poland) with a master's degree in ecclesiology . He was ordained a deacon on September 21, 1992, and was ordained a priest on October 25, 1992 by Bishop Sofron Dmyterko OSBM ( Archeparchy Ivano-Frankivsk ). He then worked in the pastoral service in Ivano-Frankivsk and was then appointed prior of the monastery of St. Basil the Great in Lutsk .

After the resignation of the incumbent Bishop Irynej Bilyk OSBM Pope Benedict XVI. on July 28, 2007 to the Apostolic Administrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis of Butschatsch. On July 23, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI confirmed the election of Father Hryhorak as Bishop of Butschatsch by the Synod of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. On September 18, 2011 he was consecrated as bishop by Grand Archbishop Svyatoslaw Shevchuk and Bishops Vasyl Semenjuk ( Ternopil ) and Sofron Stefan Mudry OSBM (Ivano Frankivsk) .
