The Demokrasi ve Atılım Partisi (short term DEVA = German remedies ; Turkish for “Party for Democracy and Progress”) is a party founded in March 2020 in Turkey .
history
The party’s founder is Ali Babacan , who always held a government post in the then AKP governments from 2002 to 2015 , among other things as Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economics and Foreign Minister of Turkey. June 2019, Babacan announced his departure from the party on the grounds that the party had deviated too much from its original values. Before that, rumors had been circulating for a long time that Babacan wanted to found his own party as an alternative to the AKP. After the party name was announced on March 9, 2020, the party logo and program were presented to the public two days later.

motivation
“We are all broken hearts. Children of our country died in air strikes [33 Turkish soldiers were killed in Syrian air strikes in Idlib province in late February]. We are sad that our country is constantly losing ground in all areas. The violation of human rights and the restrictions on our freedom cause suffering in the population ... For us politics means freedom for everyone, especially for women and a good education for our children. Politics should create social justice and build a pluralistic democracy based on the separation of powers and legal superiority "
Political goals

-
Social justice and building a liberal or pluralistic democracy
- Revitalization of the rule of law ( separation of powers )
- Return to the parliamentary system of government

- Concentration of foreign policy on pro-Europeanism or the European-Atlantic area
- Policy Consultation Mechanisms
reception
“... presents itself as an alternative for the post- Erdogan era. He is young, joined the AKP government at the age of 35, held several offices and has retained a reputation as a successful business manager from that time. He advertises that Turkey has great potential that is economically idle because the government depends on one person, the rule of law is being undermined and institutions act arbitrarily. He says he wants a less dirigistic , modern growth model and presents himself as a middle-class man who stands for a liberal democracy and is open to alliances ... "
