The Democratic Citizens Party of Germany (DBD) was a small German party . It described itself as the party of the middle class . On June 1, 2019, the DBD dissolved and joined the family party of Germany .

history

founding

The party was founded on February 20, 2016 in the Steigenberger Hotel in Dortmund on the initiative of the Dortmund police officer Ralf Piekenbrock . Piekenbrock made the decision to found the party shortly after the New Year's attacks in Cologne , because he saw "absolute ignorance of the politicians". He distanced himself from the unwanted applause from the corner of the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) and the right-wing extremist Die Rechts , because “racist ideas are exactly the wrong way to go”, and emphasized that a political vacuum should not be left to the radicals.

After the founding, the party headquarters was initially in Dortmund and later in Lünen . According to the statutes, the goal of the party, the civil rights and the democratic legal and social state to defend itself on building a supported by the social spirit free society mitzubeteiligen that each provides the ability to participate in society and to develop freely and be responsible for the Environment and future generations .

Distancing from the ALFA

Shortly after the party was founded, the Alliance for Progress and Awakening (ALFA; since November 2016 Liberal-Conservative Reformer ) sought merger talks with the DBD. Ralf Piekenbrock announced on the DBD website in June 2016 that the deputy ALFA chairman Bernd Kölmel was arriving for a related meeting and that Piekenbrock himself had telephoned the ALFA chairman Bernd Lucke . After discussions with active and former ALFA members, the assessment was made that "the ALFA has not really separated from the AfD either thematically or personally". A cooperation with an internally divided party like the ALFA is also impossible.

Cooperation with the family party

Since the beginning of the year talks have been held with the German family party about a possible merger. Together with the Democratic Citizens Party of Germany (DBD), the Family Party of Germany (FAMILY) decided at their federal party conference in April to grant the DBD limited double membership. The Democratic Citizens of Germany voted for double membership at their party convention on June 2nd and want to have a ballot at the end of the year on the final merger of both parties. On June 1, 2019, the DBD dissolved and joined the family party. On the same day, their previous chairman Ralf Piekenbrock was appointed general secretary of the family party.

Inner structure

Saarland

In September 2016 , on the initiative of the actor and presenter Peter Bond (real name Peter Kielbassa ), the Saar Regional Association was founded in Püttlingen . The DBD competed for the first time in the 2017 state elections in Saarland . With 539 votes, it achieved 0.1% of the votes. The top candidate on the state list is the regional chairman of the DBD Saar, Hans Peter Pflug, who is also the deputy federal chairman.

North Rhine-Westphalia

Participation in the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia was planned from the start. In this the party received 4,742 votes and reached 0.06 percent.
