Denis Thum

Denis Thum (born April 29, 1988 in Speyer ) is a German kart driver .

Athletic career

He began his racing career in 1997 at the DMV Gold Cup in the Bambini class. He was looked after and coached by his father Peter Thum. From 2002 to 2004 he was active in the GTC endurance championship before moving to the Rotax Max Challenge in 2005 . There he has won the overall victory in 6 seasons so far.

In 2006 he finished fourth, just one point behind. He also achieved second place in the Rotax Max Euro Challenge in 2009 and the same placement in RMC Germany in 2013. In 2008 he took two third places, also in the Rotax Max Euro Challenge and in the RMC Germany. In 2010 and 2011 he worked as a mechanic and was also the supervisor of Moritz Kremer. He also took part in the South German ADAC Kart Cup (SAKC) in Bopfingen in 2011 , where he achieved 1st place.

A year later Denis Thum founded the karting team "Project 7 Racing" together with his father Peter Thum. In 2013 he qualified as one of three German drivers for the Rotax Max Grand Finals in New Orleans .

He spent most of the years 2014 to 2018 devoting himself to family planning and the further development of his company. In 2015, Thum continued to take part in the GTC endurance championship , where he and his father Peter Thum took 1st place. After several years of abstinence from the RMC , he was able to secure the ticket for the Rotax World Championship in Sarno in 2019 without any problems . During his career he has represented teams like Kartsport Klimm and the Wildkart Racing Team.

Private

In addition to his racing career, he has been the owner of the family company for stove construction and repair since 2012. He has two sons with his wife Rebekka.
