Deniss Ivanovs ( Russian Денис Иванов ; born January 11, 1984 in Liepāja ) is a Latvian football player who plays for FK Baku in the Premyer Liqası .
Club career
Deniss Ivanovs began his career in the youth of his home club FK Liepājas Metalurgs . In 2001, this was the first time in a competitive game for Metalurgs on the lawn. After nine seasons in the Virslīga in which he won the championship twice (once with Rüdiger Abramczik ) as well as the Latvian Cup and the Baltic League in 2007 , Ivanovs moved to South Africa to Ajax Cape Town . After the 2009/10 season , the defensive player moved to the Süper Lig at Sivasspor . Already one season later Ivanovs moved to FK Baku who had a Latvian coach with Aleksandrs Starkovs and a player from the Baltic state under contract with Māris Verpakovskis . With the Azerbaijani club he won the cup in the first year after beating Neftçi Baku in the final .
National team
Deniss Ivanovs was first called up to the national team of Latvia in 2005 . He made his debut in December 2005 against Thailand during the King's Cup . With the Latvian selection he took part in the Baltic Cup in 2008 and 2010 . When he first participated in 2008 he was able to win the total of the 20th title for Latvia with the team.
