FC Energie Cottbus

For the 2007/08 season Sørensen moved for 1.2 million euros to the then German Bundesliga club FC Energie Cottbus , with whom he received a contract until 2011. This made Sørensen the second most expensive purchase in the club's history. He played his first competitive game for Energie Cottbus on August 4, 2007 in the DFB Cup against the then third division club Rot-Weiss Essen , which was lost on penalties. He made his Bundesliga debut on August 11, 2007 when he came on as a substitute against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on matchday one . On September 1, 2007, he scored his first goal in the league when he scored 1-0 with a penalty kick against 1. FC Nürnberg on matchday four . As the season progressed, Sørensen became a constant on the offensive. He played 33 Bundesliga games and scored six goals.

In the 2008/09 season, Cottbus played against relegation as in the previous season. Sørensen was used 29 times, but only played six times over 90 minutes. The Brandenburgers occupied 16th place in the table at the end of the season, which was synonymous with the relegation that was reintroduced. There they met 1. FC Nürnberg, whereby Sørensen was only used in the 2-0 defeat in the second leg. The Cottbussers had to go to the 2nd Bundesliga in the end.

In the 2009/10 season Sørensen was there until the eighth game day, but then suffered a fatigue fracture on his left knee. Due to the injury, Sørensen was out until the end of the season.

In the preparation phase for the 2010/11 season, Sørensen suffered a metatarsal fracture. On January 15, 2011 he made his comeback when he was substituted on against Fortuna Düsseldorf on matchday 18 . At the end of the season Energie Cottbus occupied sixth place in the table in the 2nd Bundesliga; Sørensen came to 14 missions. In the DFB Cup , in which Cottbus reached the semi-finals, he only played in the quarter-final against Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim .

In the season 2011/12 Sørensen fell after a rift in the syndesmosis after the sixth match day until the winter break. Sørensen played 21 games this season, Cottbus only finished 14th. His contract, which expired after the 2012/13 season , was no longer extended by the club.

FC Vestsjælland

On June 13, 2013 FC Vestsjælland announced the commitment of Sørensen. Sørensen played there until 2015, before ending his career with Lyngby BK in the Danish second division.
