The department of Monteros is located in the west of the province of Tucumán in north-west Argentina and is one of 17 administrative units in the province. It borders in the north with the departments of Tafí del Valle and Famaillá , in the east with the departments Leales and Simoca , in the south with the department Chicligasta and in the west with the province of Catamarca . The capital of the department is the city of the same name, Monteros .
