The Lules Department is located in the center of the Provínz Tucumán in northwest Argentina and is one of 17 administrative units in the province. It borders in the north with the departments of Tafí Viejo , Yerba Buena and Capital , in the east with the departments Cruz Alta and Leales , in the south with the department Famaillá and in the west with the department Tafí del Valle . The capital of the Department of Lules is called San Isidro de Lules and forms its urban center. Other important parishes are San Pablo and El Manantial . The latter belongs to the agglomeration of Gran San Miguel de Tucumán .

economy

Agriculture and a growing industrial sector in the vicinity of the provincial capital San Miguel de Tucumán form the economic base of the department. In its capital, San Isidro de Lules, and its surroundings, textile and food ( Arcor ) and paper mills ( Papel Tucumán ) have settled.

tourism

Originally a summer resort for wealthy Tucumán families, Villa Nogués has turned into a tourist attraction that is attracting a growing number of tourists. Also worth mentioning are the ruins of the church and convent of San José de Lules, which date back to the 17th century and were declared a Monumento Histórico Nacional in 1944.
