The lawyer (original title: Un crime ) is a French crime film by Jacques Deray with Alain Delon in the leading role from 1993. The script was based on the novel Le Dérapage by Gilles Perrault .

action

The Chapelin-Tourvel couple are found murdered. The main suspect is her son Frédéric Chapelin. In the following process, attorney Maître Charles Dunand succeeds in obtaining an acquittal in court. Dunand is convinced of Frédéric's innocence. After his pre-trial detention, Frédéric is released. Frédéric then invites Dunand to his parents' apartment. Here Frédéric confesses to the murder and presents different versions of the murder. At first Dunand doesn't want to believe Frédéric. Frédéric reports that Chapelin-Tourvel is not his birth father. Chapelin-Tourvel had killed his wife's lover ten years ago and hid it in the basement of the house. Dunand realizes that his belief in Frédéric's innocence was wrong.

background

Apart from flashbacks, the actual action takes place within a day and night, mostly in an apartment in Lyon .

The Lawyer is the eighth of nine films in which director Jacques Deray and lead actor Alain Delon have worked together.

criticism

"A thriller told in flashbacks of high tension that can rely on a precise acting cast."
