The Boss Also Knows The Prosecutor is a Czechoslovak crime comedy from 1987 . Directed by Vít Olmer . The film was first broadcast in Germany on May 16, 1989 on ZDF and from August 10, 1990 under the title Das große Geld in the GDR cinemas .

A Czech auto mechanic wants to buy a video recorder in Prague against western currency. He receives counterfeit dollar banknotes from a fraudster. He pursues the fraudster, but does not get his money back, but gets into money exchange business with visitors from the West who arrive in buses. When the boss of the money changer gang gets involved in the black market for hi-fi technology, problems arise.

title

The original title of the film is Bony a Klid and the naming is based on Bonnie and Clyde , but means something like "Bons and rest" in the Czech language, as the film is largely about the changers (Vekslaky) before the Czech Tuzex - Tales of shops that sold shopping vouchers (in Czech “Bony” for “Bons”) on the street, with which one could buy privileged and coveted western goods in the Tuzex shops. The film was also shown in the GDR under the title “The Big Money”.
