The Italian is a TV film by Ferry Radax , based on a template by Thomas Bernhard .

description

The lord of the castle is found shot. Family and employees moved the question, murder or suicide. But the police are not notified.

The dead man's sister calmly organizes the funeral. Hungry mourners wait in the castle for their breakfast.

While the funeral takes place behind a miners' chapel, the son escapes into the garden with an Italian guest. Their path leads into a forest on a meadow with a mass grave of Polish soldiers who were shot in the war.

The film was shot in Wolfsegg am Hausruck . A place where Bernhard often stayed because he lived in the neighboring community of Ottnang am Hausruck .
