Ferry Radax
Ferry Radax (born June 20, 1932 in Vienna ) is an Austrian filmmaker .

He was trained as a choirboy in Vienna and later learned singing and piano at the Musisches Gymnasium Frankfurt / Main . He has been writing screenplays since 1949 , first by taking notes in the cinema , then soon his own and, from 1953, others together with colleagues from the film academy . Practical film work began in 1951 as an assistant from scratch. Since then he has been an author , cameraman , film editor , director and finally as a producer of documentary / experimental / advertising / series / music and feature films.
After three years of documentary films in Austria, attended the film schools in Vienna in 1953/54 and in Rome in 1955/56, Cinecittà , Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia . This was followed by years of work in Switzerland , Germany and Italy , rarely in Austria, but ongoing film work in France , Hungary , Great Britain , Ireland , Norway , Japan , Peru , St. Helena , USA , New Zealand , etc. After several festivals and prizes, personal film weeks in the London National Film Theater , Paris Center Pompidou , Berliner Lupe, Munich Gasteig , Zurich , Rome, Tokyo .
After all, 40 different films from 40 years of filmmaking and the complete oeuvre of 120 productions were shown at the Albertina Film Museum in Vienna in 1993. In 2012, the Diagonale film festival dedicated a personal to Radax. In September 2017, the first major retrospective in the USA took place in the Anthology Film Archives in New York.
