The Sniffer Dog (Original title: Shamus ) is an American film directed by Buzz Kulik from 1973 with Burt Reynolds in the leading role as a New York private detective.

The New York private detective Shamus McCoy is hired by a wealthy diamond dealer to solve a brutal robbery. His investigations are systematically hindered. However, he realizes that he is on the right track as the Mafia picks up thugs. It turns out that the client himself is behind the crime and assassinations.
