Victor J. Kemper

Victor J. Kemper (born April 14, 1927 in Newark , New Jersey ) is an American cameraman .

Life

After his training on the camera, Kemper joined a New York television station in 1949, where he worked as an engineer. In the following decade and a half he remained loyal to technical professions in television and film, before devoting himself entirely to camerawork in cinema.

In 1967 he was responsible for The Tiger Makes Out for the first time as a simple cameraman . Two years later he worked in the same capacity at Alice's Restaurant . In the same year he was promoted to chief cameraman in the 1970 film The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart . Altogether he participated in almost 60 productions.

Victor J. Kemper was President of the American Society of Cinematographers from 1993 to 1996 and from 1999 to 2001 . In 1998 he received the " ASC Lifetime Achievement Award " from this organization .

In 1987 he was nominated for an Emmy for his work on the television film Every Murder Has Its Prize , the first sequel to the series Kojak - Operation in Manhattan . The following year he received an ASC Award nomination for the same production.
