action

As a framework story, Master W from PSYCHO Productions tells that he found a videotape of a filmmaker friend in the forest. Independent filmmaker Alan Jates visited Master W and Crippler Criss to question them about a bloodthirsty creature who roams the Silschedern Forests. Animated by the two filmmakers to play a drinking game , he wakes up the next day hungover and decides to dub over the video tape. However, this does not succeed, so that the plot of the film is repeatedly interrupted by the excesses of the previous day.

Together with the author Erik and an Army soldier who is known by everyone as "The Boy Scout", Alan Jates has booked a sightseeing tour with a local guide who is supposed to take them to the legendary animal beast, actually a cannibalistic hermit. But the tour goes wrong when they come across a horde of tourists, whom the guide kills without further ado. The group quarrel and when the boy scout kills Erik in a fit of rage, the sightseeing guide also leaves the group.

Alan and the boy scout continue to advance into the forest until Alan misuses the card as toilet paper. Finally the boy scout turns on Alan, but just as he is about to beat him up, the boy scout is attacked by the beast. Alan survives the attack and drags himself on to the hermit's hut, where he meets the tour guide, who is removing Erik's heart to eat. The last few seconds of the videotape show the beast walking towards Alan.

background

The film contains some references to horror, cannibal and found footage films. For example, the night mode of the camera in the style of Blair Witch Project (1999) is used at one point . Some splatter effects are based on cannibal films like Man-Eater (1980), and Eric and Alan re-enact a scene from Naked and Mangled (1980). Incidentally, one of the drinking scenes is an allusion to the famous David Hasselhoff video in which he consumes a burger while drunk. Alan eats a doner kebab in the place in question . There are also allusions to previous works such as The Secret of Magic Mushrooms (2009) and Animalisch .

The film premiered in the Hagen cinema on June 11, 2011. It was also screened at the Fright Night Film Festival in Austria. The work was then published on DVD and later appeared on YouTube and Amazon Prime .

The film was continued in 2016 with the feature film The King of the Cannibals .
