Deseo is a film directed by Antonio Zavala Kugler . It is based on Arthur Schnitzler's play Reigen from 1897. The film premiered on September 13, 2013.

content

The story is a representation of aristocratic decadence that draws parallels between 19th century Vienna and today's Mexico. She outlines the relationships between all strata of society as a humorous series of sexual encounters. True to the work, the film traces passion, lust, lust for power, seduction and disillusionment from all walks of life and at the same time pokes fun at (seemingly) sacred ideas of prudery and hypocrisy.

While Schnitzler's piece depicts “the relentless mechanics of cohabitation” without ever showing it, the film has an aesthetic-erotic note. Although this is present throughout, it also represents other desires on various levels.

Zavala Kugler links the different actions and characters in the dance. The choice of music not only underlines the events in the film, but also takes on such a strong character that it joins the cast of actors.
