Dessislawa Topalova ( Bulgarian Десислава Топалова , English transcription Desislava Topalova ; born June 8, 1978 in Plovdiv ) is a former Bulgarian tennis player .

Career

Topalowa won seven singles and nine doubles titles in the ITF Women's Circuit during her career . As a lucky loser, she reached a main draw of a WTA tournament for the first time at the Warsaw Cup by Heros 2000 , where she lost her first round match against Jennifer Hopkins with 5-7 and 2-6.

From 1997 to 2004 she played for the Bulgarian Fed Cup team , where she was victorious 18 times in 34 matches. In 2006 she was the captain of the team.
