Detlef Dern

Detlef Dern (born January 26, 1905 in Neuwied ; † August 15, 1941 in Rschishchev , Ukraine) was a member of the Reichstag for the NSDAP .

Life

Dern was the son of a printer. From 1911 to 1919 he attended elementary school in Neuwied and Niederdollendorf , then the vocational school. He completed an apprenticeship as a surveying technician in 1923. Initially employed as an assistant at the Neuwied municipal building authority, he worked from 1924 to 1927 for a private surveying office. According to his own statements, he was dismissed for his political activities.

During the occupation of the Rhineland , Dern was involved in passive resistance against the French occupation forces. As a result, he was sentenced to two years in prison and a heavy fine in 1924. However, the sentences were only partially carried out or waived through an amnesty. At times Dern was a member of the paramilitary associations " Stahlhelm " and " Wehrwolf ".

On August 15, 1925, Dern joined the NSDAP ( membership number 21,699) and took over the management of the local group in Neuwied and worked for the National Socialist newspapers " Westdeutscher Beobachter " and " Nationalblatt ". From 1929 Dern was SA Storm Leader in Neuwied; In the same year he received a license as Gauredner in Gau Koblenz-Trier. Before 1931 he was temporarily district leader of the Hitler Youth (HJ) in the same Gau. In the NSDAP he took over the management of the Neuwied-Süd district from September 1, 1931, after the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists he was responsible for the entire Neuwied district. From March 12, 1933 Dern was temporarily a member of the district council, district committee member and district judge in his home district. On August 29, 1935, he replaced Gustav Leidenroth in the Reichstag . Dern was a member of the supervisory board of the "Neuwied non-profit settlement company" and of "Kraftversorgung Rhein-Wied AG".

During World War II , Dern fell as a Wehrmacht soldier in the Ukraine after the German attack on the Soviet Union .
