Detlef Schütz (born April 4, 1966 in Norken ) is a former German football referee . From 1995 to 2000 he headed games in the 2nd Bundesliga and in 1997 a game in the 1st Bundesliga.

Career

He passed the referee examination in 1983. He whistled his first well-known game on November 13, 1993 in what was then the Oberliga Südwest at 1-1 between SC Hauenstein and FSV Saarwellingen . Also in 1993 he was appointed district referee instructor. As early as September 18, 1994, he played for the first time in what was then the Regionalliga West-Südwest. From the DFB-Pokal season 1995/96 to 1998/99 he always led one game either in the 1st or the 2nd round. His only self-directed game in the 1st Bundesliga occurred on the 29th matchday of the 1996/97 season on April 26, 1997 between VfL Bochum and SC Freiburg (3-2). The kicker then gave him the note 4, emphasized the "often-generous" game management.

On November 10, 1999, he had to appear before the DFB sports court. The reason for this was his alleged testimony during the game Hansa Rostock against SSV Ulm (2: 1) on September 10, 1999, in which he was used as line judge, against the then coach of Ulm Martin Andermatt . According to him, he replied "Shut up" to a question.

Since 2000 he has held the post of district referee chairman. His last game as a full-time referee in the 2nd Bundesliga was on the 32nd matchday of the 1999/2000 season , in the game Chemnitzer FC against Stuttgarter Kickers (1-1). On July 12, 2000 he was able to take part for the first time in a game of the Champions League qualification, in the 0: 4 between the F91 Dudelange and the Levski Sofia he was used as a linesman. In the time after that, his missions were limited to the then Oberliga Südwest. His last known game was on May 26, 2007 when SpVgg EGC Wirges played against 1. FC Saarbrücken II . In June 2016 he was awarded the DFB badge of honor.
