Detlev Joachim von Brockdorff , also Detlef Joachim von Brockdorff (born November 16, 1735 in Aschau, today part of Altenhof (near Eckernförde) ; † January 20, 1786 in Lübeck ) was a German lawyer, canon and freemason .

Life

Detlev Joachim von Brockdorff came from the Holstein-Danish noble family Brockdorff , which belongs to the Equites Originarii (Holstein nobility ). He was a son of the landlord of Aschau Schack von Brockdorff and his wife Catharina Hedwig von Ahlefeldt .

As a 15-year-old he was given a canon position in the Lübeck cathedral chapter , which Wulf Heinrich von Thienen resigned in his favor. At the same time he received by resignation of Henning Benedikt von Rumohr one of the two Livonisten- prebends . These prebenders, named after their founder, the cathedral dean Johannes Livo († 1292), entitled to income, but not to a seat and vote in the chapter.

He studied law at the University of Kiel and received a position at the Holstein Regional Court in Glückstadt . After a few years he came to the Gottorf Higher Court . In 1767 he moved to Lübeck and began his residence as a canon. In 1773 he became a full member of the cathedral chapter. In 1779 King Christian VII appointed him royal district administrator.

Brockdorff was accepted into the newly founded Lübeck Masonic Lodge Zum Fruchthorn , later Zum Füllhorn , on July 4, 1772 . He was promoted to master in quick succession. In 1774 he succeeded Christian August Förtsch as her second master from the chair , but gave up the office again in 1776. He was again Chairman Master in 1781 until his death. Shortly before his second term in office, the second Lübeck Lodge Zur Weltkugel split off in 1779 . His successor was Friedrich Bernhard von Wickede .

He was married to Christiane Margarethe (1738–1800), b. Sexton from Schleswig.
