Detthold Aden

Detthold Aden (born February 21, 1948 in Wilhelmshaven ) is a German manager and was chairman of the board of the BLG logistics group in Bremen until May 31, 2013 .

biography

Youth and first ascent

From 1964 Aden completed an apprenticeship as a forwarding agent at Güter-Schnell-Verkehr Carl Graetz in Wilhelmshaven. He then served as a conscript in an Air Force training regiment. In the 1970s he became a management assistant at the forwarding company Steinle in Stuttgart and around 1974 commercial director of the Frankfurt forwarding company Brömme.

At UPS

In 1976 he became the founding managing director of the logistics company and parcel service United Parcel Service (UPS) in Germany. From 1979 he was the managing director of United Parcel Service with sole power of representation and from 1981 Vice President and General Manager for Europe.

At Bertelsmann

Bertelsmann boss Reinhard Mohn recruited Aden in 1982 for the tasks of parcel shipping in the publishing and media group . He became managing director of a Bertelsmann subsidiary for publishing house delivery (now Arvato ). In 1987 he received the German Logistics Prize. He stayed with the company in Gütersloh for six years .

At Thyssen

After his time at Bertelsmann, Aden was managing director of the Union Transport Group for only two years. In 1989 it was sold to Nedlloyd under his leadership. In 1990 he moved again, now to the Thyssen steel group, now ThyssenKrupp AG . At Thyssen Haniel Logistik GmbH in Düsseldorf , he became chairman of the board and five years later (1995) he was also a member of the board of Thyssen Handelsunion . From 1997 the merger talks between the companies Thyssen AG and Fried began. Krupp AG Hoesch-Krupp. Krupp boss Gerhard Cromme and Thyssen manager Ekkehard Schulz became CEOs in 1999 and the previous Thyssen boss and Aden sponsor Dieter H. Vogel resigned in 1998. Aden switched again.

At BLG

In 1999 Aden became Chairman of the Board of Management of the BLG Logistics Group . Aden commented on the competition between the ports in Hamburg , Bremerhaven , Rotterdam and Antwerp : “Grow or give way” . Aden on his "deepened added value ": "We run the largest car workshop in Europe".

Aden was President of the Central Association of German Seaport Companies (ZDS) until 2010 and Honorary Consul of Finland until 2013 . He was a member of the Presidium of the Bremen Chamber of Commerce and the Presidium of the German Transport Forum in Berlin. He has been an honorary member of the Federal Logistics Association (BVL) since 2003. Since 2002 he has been a commercial member of Haus Seefahrt . He has been involved in the Rotary Club of Bremen since 1999 .

He married the Brazilian / Italian Jussara Dotti for the third time in 2018.
