The Central Association of German Seehafenbetriebe eV (ZDS) is the federal association of companies involved in the handling of maritime goods in the seaports in Bremen , Hamburg , Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein . The ZDS represents the common economic, commercial, social and collective bargaining interests of the companies and concludes collective agreements for the dock workers for its collective bargaining members .

tasks

Task of ZDS is the joint economic, trade tax, social and collective interests of the German sea port companies at national level and at EU plane to represent . The ZDS is committed to strengthening the competitiveness of German seaports and securing their local conditions. With regard to the transport infrastructure , he calls for a targeted expansion of the seaward approaches and hinterland connections of the German seaports in order to meet the requirements of international competition. The ZDS is collective partner of the United Services Union ver.di . With it, the association concludes collective agreements for its members bound by collective bargaining agreements for the port workers of the German seaport companies. At the national level, the association maintains contacts with chambers of commerce, federal associations, authorities and ministries of the coastal states as well as with the federal ministries, with members of the Bundestag and the state parliaments. Internationally, he maintains relationships with the European Parliament and European professional associations.

Organs and management

The organs are the Presidium, the Administrative Board, the Social Policy Committee and the General Assembly. The Presidium consists of the President, his deputy and three other members. The member companies of the ZDS in each coastal country are each represented by one member on the ZDS Presidium. Frank Dreeke, CEO of the BLG Logistics Group , has been President since 2016 . Other members of the Presidium are Jens A. Scharner (Vice President), Managing Director of Rostock Port GmbH , Jan Müller, Chairman of the Board of J. Müller AG , Frank Schnabel, Managing Director of Brunsbüttel Ports GmbH and Angela Titzrath , CEO of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) . L. Daniel Hosseus has been the general manager since April 1, 2014. Another managing director of the association is lawyer Lutz Könner.

history

The association is the successor to the Central Association of German Seaport Companies founded in Hamburg in 1934 . In 1935, the name of the central association was deleted and the operations until 1945 were part of the Reichsverkehrsgruppe Seeschifffahrt, specialist group for seaports and transshipment companies (→ Synchronization ).

The association was founded on May 21, 1947 in Hamburg. Ernst Plate , director of Hamburger Hafen- und Lagerhaus AG , was elected as the first chairman , and Carl F. Ewig, director of the Bremer Lagerhausgesellschaft, was elected as deputy chairman .
