Johannes Kleineidam

Johannes Georg Michael Kleineidam (born August 9, 1935 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf ; † June 2, 1981 in Berlin ) was a Roman Catholic theologian and auxiliary bishop in the then diocese of Berlin during the division of Germany from 1970.

After studying Catholic theology , Kleineidam received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Berlin from Julius Cardinal Döpfner on December 17, 1960 in the St. Hedwig's Cathedral in Berlin . He was initially chaplain to Ss. Corpus Christi (Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg) , then cathedral capitular and secretary to Bishop Alfred Bengsch and 1969/1970 chaplain to St. Adalbert (Berlin-Mitte) .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on September 12, 1970 titular bishop of Nova and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the then diocese of Berlin. The episcopal ordination received his Cardinal Alfred Bengsch on 3 October of the same year. Co- consecrators were Gerhard Schaffran , Bishop of Meißen and Bishop Heinrich Theissing , Apostolic Administrator in Schwerin .

He himself was co-consecrator at the episcopal ordination of Bernhard Huhn (1971) and Georg Weinhold (1973).

After the death of Cardinal Bengsch in December 1979, Johannes Kleineidam led the diocese of Berlin as diocesan administrator until the inauguration of Bishop Joachim Meisner on May 17, 1980.

In 1981, Kleineidam died after a long illness at the age of 45. He was buried in the cemetery of the St. Hedwigs Community in Berlin-Alt-Hohenschönhausen ( Konrad-Wolf-Straße ) next to the chapel. On the Sankt-Matthias-Friedhof in Berlin-Tempelhof (Röblingstrasse) on the southern edge of Department 14 there is a memorial cross from the time of the division of Berlin.
