production

The single was produced by DJ Desue , who had already worked with Fler on several tracks on the Trendsetter album, as well as the songs AGGRO on Neue Deutsche Welle and Schlampe on Aggro Ansage Nr. 5 . Desue had previously made a name for himself through productions for German rappers such as Sido , Samy Deluxe , D-Flame , MC Rene , Massive Töne and Fler's former collaboration partner Bushido . Djorkaeff , who is responsible for the main part of the productions of the album Fremd in his own country , contributed a remix by Deutscha Bad Boy for the single together with Beatzarre .

Music video

The single was marketed through the Aggro Berlin label, which also released the album Fremd in their own country . A music video for the song was released on December 19, 2007, in which Fler can mostly be seen driving through Berlin in a Porsche . Furthermore, the German Bad Boy producer DJ Desue, Flers' former Aggro Berlin label colleagues Sido, B-Tight and Tony D, the Berlin rapper Playboy 51 or the rapper Silla , who was then under contract with I love Money Records , can be seen in several scenes . A making-of was uploaded before the music video was released.

The music broadcaster MTV announced even before the video was released that it would not be showing it on its TV. The broadcaster gave a " message that could be interpreted too ambiguously " as the reason . Flers label Aggro Berlin commented on MTV's approach that the video would be too hard, too German for German music TV . Fler himself spoke of "reverse discrimination" in this context. Aggro Berlin then submitted a censored version of the music video to the broadcaster and at the same time presented the original version on its online portal aggro.tv.

Commercial win

The single reached number 16 in the German charts. It stayed in the German charts for a total of seven weeks. In Austria, the single made it to number 68, but left the charts again the following week.

Aftermath

Deutscha Bad Boy in other songs

The Berlin hip-hop formation KIZ used a voice sample from Deutscha Bad Boy for the song Ich bin Adolf Hitler , which was published on their mixtape Ganz oben in 2013 . Fler criticized KIZ for the, according to his statements, unexplained use of the sample because of the alienation of the content caused by the changed context.

Deutscha Bad Boy 2013

In mid-2013, a new version of the song by Fler was released. However, this one stands out clearly from the predecessor, no longer leans on patriotism and contains a hook sung with the help of Auto-Tune . The song was included on the Masculine Mixtape Vol. 3 .
