The German Children's Song Prize is awarded annually as part of the Geraldino Children's Music Festival in the Nuremberg Tafelhalle . The prize is donated by the Nürnberger Nachrichten and is endowed with a total of € 2,500 (1st place: € 1,200 plus challenge cup; 2nd place € 800; 3rd place € 500).

history

The nursery rhyme maker Geraldino from Nuremberg initiated the German children's song award to "strengthen the importance of children's songs and present the range of good children's music". Geraldino has been making music for children since 1983 and has been organizing the Children's Music Festival in Nuremberg since 1999 in cooperation with the Tafelhalle ; the first award ceremony took place at the 3rd Geraldino Children's Music Festival in 2001. The City of Nuremberg and the Sparkasse Nürnberg Cultural Foundation support the Geraldino Children's Music Festival.

In January each year, an invitation to tender for the next competition is published on the website of the German Children's Song Award , each time with a specific motto. By the deadline in April, self-composed and self-written children's songs can be uploaded and applications submitted in the online portal. The jury vote will also take place online until the end of May, a hit parade of the competition titles will be created (the vote will be presented by kimuk.de ).

The fifteen best-rated titles will be published on a festival CD, and the proceeds from the sale will go to a children's charity.

The three interpreters of the songs with the most jury points are invited by Geraldino to the finals in the Tafelhalle in Nuremberg, the competition concert takes place every October. After the live presentation of the performers, the winner of the competition will be determined by an audience rating.
