The motto is a river in France that runs in the Charente-Maritime department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region . It rises in the area of Chervettes (municipality of La Devise ), initially flows generally in a westerly direction, but then turns to the southwest and south and, after a total of 36 kilometers, joins the municipality of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Prée and Vergeroux on the right Creek in the estuary of the Charente . The last 20 kilometers of the river serve to drain the marshland north of Rochefort . Here the river is canalized, connected to a multitude of smaller and larger water drains and is also called the Canal de Charras .
