Dharamsala ( Hindi धर्मशाला IAST Dharmsala [ dʱʌrʌmʃɑːlɑː ]; also Dharmsala , Dharamsala , Dharmashala , Dharamshala or Dharamsala , literally, house of Dharma .., Ie pilgrims) is a city ( Municipal Council ) in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh in district Kangra , whose administrative headquarters them for 1852 is.

For smaller vehicles (rickshaw, minivan, jeep) and pedestrians, there is a direct but steep connection about two kilometers long. Cars, trucks and buses have to use a winding road around nine kilometers long between the suburbs.

In Dharamsala is the Men-Tsee-Khang Faculty of Medicine, founded by the 14th Dalai Lama in 1961 , named after the Faculty of Medicine founded in Lhasa in 1916 by the 13th Dalai Lama .
