Diocesan Council of Catholics in the Diocese of Eichstätt
The Diocesan Council Eichstätt is the union of representatives of the deanery councils and the Catholic associations as well as other personalities from church and society in the area of the diocese of Eichstätt . It is the body recognized by the Eichstätter Bishop for the coordination of the forces of the lay apostolate and for the promotion of the world service of the laity in the diocese of Eichstätt. After the parish council elections, the diocesan council is reconstituted every four years.
tasks
The Eichstätt Diocesan Council has the following tasks:
- to promote the apostolate of the laity in the diocese according to the needs of our time,
- to observe developments in social, state and church life and to stand up for the concerns of Catholics in public,
- To give suggestions for the work of the Catholics of the diocese in society and to coordinate and promote the forces united in it,
- to decide on joint tasks and to ensure that they are carried out if no other suitable agency is available,
- to prepare and carry out joint initiatives and events of the Catholics of the diocese,
- to coordinate and encourage the work of the parish councils and dean's councils and, conversely, to deal with suggestions and applications from the lower and middle levels,
- to promote the ecclesiastically recognized organizations and groups while maintaining their independence,
- to give suggestions to the diocesan pastoral council ,
- to represent the diocese in the State Committee of Catholics in Bavaria and in the Central Committee of German Catholics and to deal with the concerns and tasks of the Catholics of the diocese on a supra-diocesan level.

Members
The Eichstätt diocesan council has a total of 87 members who meet twice a year for a general assembly. The plenary assembly in spring takes place in different locations in the diocese of Eichstätt, the plenary assembly in autumn always in the diocese house of Hirschberg near Beilngries .

Delegated diocesan offices
The Diocesan Council also includes a delegate from each of the three departments of the Pastoral Department and a delegate from the Caritas Department of the Eichstätt diocese. The Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt sends a representative . In addition, a clergyman is appointed by the bishop of the Eichstätt diocese. Together with the managing director employed by the diocese of Eichstätt, he has an advisory role in the plenary assembly.
Appointed members
The members can appoint up to ten public figures in their constituent meeting. The appointments for the 2018–2022 term have not yet been completed.
Committees
The general assembly of the diocesan council has the opportunity to set up committees. These have the task of continuously monitoring developments in their subject area, advising the organs of the diocesan council, informing them about developments in their subject area, preparing templates and supporting the deanery and parish councils and the Catholic organizations in their work. For this purpose, the committees work together with the relevant departments of the episcopal ordinariate. The technical committees are composed of members of the diocesan council and appointed members. The chairmen of the committees are also members of the general assembly.
