history

DiTech (advertised data & information technology) was founded in 1999 by Damian Izdebski, then 22 years old. The company name comes from his initials "DI". His wife at the time, Aleksandra Izdebska, took over accounting while she was studying. Both come from Poland and only came to Austria at the age of 15. The couple rented a small shop at the upper end of Nordwestbahnstrasse in Vienna's 20th district of Brigittenau and started out as a PC service provider with two technicians. Soon afterwards, the company began retailing and mail order, and an online shop was also established.

In 2005 a second shop was opened in Graz , in 2006 a third in the SCS in Vösendorf , a suburb of Vienna. In the summer of 2005, DiTech began producing its own PC systems under the brand name dimotion . In 2007 the company moved into the new headquarters on Dresdnerstrasse in Vienna-Brigittenau. In the following years, further branches were opened, including in Linz , Kufstein , Dornbirn , Villach , Amstetten , Horn , Liezen and Kapfenberg . In April 2013, the number of computer shops and specialist stores rose to a total of 22 thanks to the continuation of a new type of shop-in-shop concept on Linzer Landstrasse.

In 2012 the company achieved net sales of 120 million euros and employed around 300 people.

On March 10, 2014 it was announced that DiTech was aiming for a restructuring process. The main reason for this was the strong expansion of the last few years with too much outside financing. In the course of its 15-year existence, the company has generated over 1 billion euros in sales.

On April 3, 2014 it was announced that the restructuring had failed and the bankruptcy proceedings were opened against DiTech. On June 10, 2014 it became known that the trademark and domain rights of DiTech had been bought by the company E-Tec for 1.4 million euros. E-Tec also wanted to reopen some of the former DiTech branches.

dimotion

Since 2005, DiTech has had computers and servers produced specifically for the Austrian market under the brand name dimotion . In 2007 the PC production was outsourced to its own subsidiary. In terms of market share, dimotion was now the second largest computer manufacturer in Austria after the world market leader HP . In March 2014 dimotion went as a result of financial problems of its parent company DiTech in bankruptcy .

Trading concept

DiTech's retail concept was based on a multi-channel strategy that was further developed to link the online shop , specialist stores and advice . Customers had the opportunity to reserve products online and pick them up in-store. Central to this hybrid concept was the equality between online and offline trading , which resulted in a uniform service and price policy and required corresponding warehouse logistics .

Others

The founders Damian Izdebski and Aleksandra Izdebska were finalists in the 2009 Austrian of the Year election . Also in 2009, the couple won the Entrepreneur of the Year award from Ernst & Young in Austria.

Aleksandra Izdebska, who studied Polish, German, Russian as an interpreter and economics in Vienna, is also committed to integration and in 2011 is a juror for the Austrian Integration Prize .

In July 2012, the Austrian Minister for Economic Affairs, Reinhold Mitterlehner, presented DiTech with a state award for special economic achievements. The company was then allowed to use the federal coat of arms in business dealings.

Damian Izdebski founded techbold technology group AG in 2014, which he leads as CEO.

Damian and Aleksandra Izdebski divorced in May 2017.
