Dia Frampton (2012)

Dia Leif Frampton (born October 2, 1987 in Draper , Utah ) is an American singer-songwriter . She is a member of the band Meg & Dia along with her sister and was runner-up in the first season of The Voice . Her debut album Red was released in 2011.

biography

Childhood and youth

Dia Frampton attended school in St. George , Utah and later in Las Vegas , where she graduated in 2005. In 2004 she founded the band Meg & Dia together with her sister . The band had a recording deal with Warner Music , which ended in 2010.

Participation in The Voice

In the spring of 2011, she took part in the talent show The Voice , originally just to make the album Cocoon better known, but she stayed on the show longer than expected and joined Blake Shelton's team . She reached the finals where she sang a duet with Miranda Lambert , eventually finishing second. As of July 7, 2011, a total of 480,000 copies of her performances had been sold for download on The Voice . In 2011, Frampton was named 'Favorite Reality Show Personality' by Entertainment Weekly magazine .

Solo career

Dia Frampton's debut single The Broken Ones was released on November 15, 2011, her first solo album, Red , on December 6, 2011. Frampton wrote all of the songs on the album herself, some as a co-author. Red reached number 106 on the album charts and number one on the heatseaker charts in the United States. In 2011 she went on tour with her former coach Blake Shelton and in 2012 with The Fray . In early 2012, Frampton went on tour himself with the Canadian singer Andrew Allen in the opening act.

In 2013, Frampton worked on a new album that should be quieter and softer than the first. Together with the producer duo The Crystal Method , released their new single Over It, including a music video , in December 2013 . In 2014 she was heard in the song We Are Giants on Lindsey Stirling 's second album Shatter Me , and she also contributed the vocals to the single Stay by the Australian DJ tyDi . In 2014 she appeared on Lindsey Stirling's tour. Together with Joseph Trapanese she founded the duo Archis, whose first EP was released on February 23, 2015.

In October 2016 she released the single Golden Years , which is about the "golden years" of life. For Dia herself, it was the time when she toured across the United States in a used minibus with her four best friends. Golden Years is the lead single of their second album Bruises , which was released on March 3, 2017.
