Dick Martin

Dick Martin (born January 30, 1922 in Battle Creek , Michigan , † May 24, 2008 in Santa Monica , California ) was an American comedian , actor and director , multiple Emmy nominations.

Life

Early in his career, Martin was part of the writing staff of the popular comedy - radio show Duffy's Tavern . In the 1950s he founded the comedian duo Rowan and Martin with Dan Rowan . In addition to stage appearances, they were often guests at the Colgate Comedy Hour on NBC television . Together with Rowan, he developed the television show Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In in 1968, which was broadcast from 1968 to 1973. For this show, the two were nominated four times for the Emmy between 1969 and 1971 and won it in 1970.

After Rowan retired, Martin began a second career directing television series such as Family Ties , Sledge Hammer! and brothers .

During his career, Martin also worked as an actor. In 1962 he was alongside Lucille Ball in the sitcom Oops Lucy! to see. He played guest roles in various television series such as Love Boat , Fantasy Island , Sledge Hammer! and Baywatch as well as in Hollywood films such as Spy in Lace Panties and was often a guest star on American game shows.

He was married to actress Dolly Read from 1971 to 1975 and again from 1978 until his death .
