Dick Pearce
Richard "Dick" Pearce (born April 19, 1951 in Forest Gate, London ) is a British jazz trumpeter (trumpet, flugelhorn).

Pearce is the son of a singer and the cousin of pianist and arranger John Pearce . He learned the trumpet at the age of thirteen and was a musician with the Horse Guards from 1968 to 1971 . In the 1970s he was with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and played with Graham Collier from 1972 to 1978 (intermittently). He has also worked with Mike Westbrook , Dudu Pukwana , Julian Marshall , Dave Defries , Brian Abrahams , Ken Hyder , Chris Biscoe , Ken McCarthy , Keith Tippett and others. In the 1980s, he often played in the big band of Jack Sharpe ; he also stepped u. a. with Gil Evans , Ronnie Scott , with Don Rendell and in the Pete King quintet . He had a motorcycle accident in 1991 but recovered and played again with Ronnie Scott and Mike Westbrook in the early 1990s. In the 1990s, he also led his own quartet and played the early 2000s with the Great Spirit of Tim Richards .
Pearce recorded with Ronnie Scott ( Never Pat a Burning Dog ), Mike Westbrook ( The Cortège ), Al Cohn and under his own name ( Big Hit , FMR Records 1995). He played with singer Trudy Kerr in A Tribute to Chet Baker . Tom Lord recorded 30 recording sessions from 1971 to 2011.
His favorite musicians were Miles Davis , Art Farmer , Woody Shaw , Kenny Wheeler, and Chet Baker.
