The embassy assassination is a German television film by Elmar Fischer from 2016 . It is the pilot of the crime series Die Diplomatin with Natalia Wörner as the diplomat Karla Lorenz, who works for the Foreign Office , in the lead role.

action

Heavily armed terrorists lay siege to a security exercise at the German embassy in Tunis . Under leader Raid, they take control of the entire staff. Among them is Karla Lorenz with her assistant Nikolaus Tanz and the ambassador Stephan Saalmüller. Even Lorenz employee Esra switched sides in order to free the imprisoned relatives of Islamist accomplices. Karla Lorenz superior Thomas Eick has meanwhile been informed and flew specially from Berlin to Tunis. The local political contact person, Kousri, firmly rejects any negotiations with the terrorist group. The embassy attack was filmed from November 11, 2015 to December 18, 2015. Among other things, Berlin served as the shooting locations and the scenes in Tunis were shot in Spain .

Originally, kidnapping in Manila was supposed to be the opening sequence of the newly launched crime series Die Diplomatin on November 14, 2015 on Das Erste in the Saturday evening program. Due to the terrorist attacks in Paris the day before , the broadcast was postponed to May 7, 2016. The first broadcast of the second-announced episode, The Embassy Attack , was brought forward to April 30, 2016, as the station had changed the planned chronology at short notice.

The critics of the television magazine TV Spielfilm said the following about the opening film of the series: “Exciting special mission in a sweaty atmosphere”. They rated the film with their thumbs up.
