action

The married couple Robert and Ellen Lunt live together with Tobias, their son, in a beautiful single-family house. When Tobias is on his eighth birthday to take piano lessons, he falls into the hands of a child kidnapper in front of his house. His father Robert turns on the police against the wishes of his wife Ellen. Ellen comments on the situation, which is overwhelming at this moment, with harsh words: "If Tobias does something, I'll kill him". Robert tries to stay calm and in the meantime procures the necessary sum to release Tobias.

The ransom demand for Tobias amounts to an impressive 500,000 euros. No question about it, the recognized sociology professor Robert Lunt is ready to raise the amount for his son. However, the transfer of the money fails on the first attempt.

The parents decide together to bring the next money handover over the stage without the knowledge of the police. However, the situation gets out of control, Ellen believes that she has recognized the kidnapper, because now the marriage of the two is put to a tough test. The protagonists meet in a remote mountain hut, and the vengeance of a mother who has her son snatched from her is naturally not without consequences.

Reviews

TV Spielfilm sums it up: "Well played, sometimes a bit badly constructed: the parents' pent-up fear is released in the second half in a furious psycho-duel with the alleged kidnapper". The summary of the program guide is: "Tour de Force, especially for parents".

Rainer Tittelbach is of the opinion that "[in] the focus [of the action] there is a moral contradiction." The film critic's final sentence is: "Tension with a convincing Claudia Michelsen".

The lexicon of international films judges: "A stringent psychological chamber play could have been developed from the subtle exposure of the (television) thriller, instead the film relies all too superficially on dramatic action elements".
